A Funny Customer

A few months ago, I went to KFC in my local area to eat some chicken. Since it was a school holiday, I had to stand in a long queue. All of a sudden, a middle-aged lady standing in front of me caught my attention as she was looking around strangely. She seemed to have been of Asian background and might have been in this country for a short time. 

I suddenly asked her, “Are you OK?” She didn’t say anything. I thought she probably didn’t hear my voice. So it didn’t worry me and I didn’t bother about asking her again. 

As she progressed towards the counter, the counter crew girl asked her, “How may I help you, Mam?” She couldn’t answer. The customer assistant reiterated, but the lady (customer) seemed slightly uncomfortable and turned very thoughtful. Suddenly, she started pointing her finger at the food menu/board behind the counter and saying while shaking her body, “Chicken please, chicken please”. 

The counter crew asked, “Which part of chicken would you like as they are of different kinds?” She (customer) remained quiet and failed to answer again. She talked to herself a bit in her own language and raised her one arm/hand pointing to it with the other. The customer assistant was a little awkward and said, “Sorry, I don’t understand what you are trying to say”. 

The people behind me including myself were getting really impatient being in such a long queue. Then the Asian lady suddenly spread her both arms/hands on her two sides and started waving them like a dove or eagle and saying, “Chicken hands, chicken hands”. The customer crew still couldn’t understand quite clearly. Then I thought I should interfere in this, and said to the crew member, “I think this lady is after some CHICKEN WINGS”. 

Instantly, the lady (customer) looked back at me and bent/bowed down her head a bit and said something in her language and then said, “Thank you very much”. We all including the customer assistant couldn’t help laughing. 

After the incident, it still makes me laugh whenever I go to KFC or walk/drive past it.
