What Aussie mums really want for Mothers Day
Husbands and children take note: a new survey commissioned by Tetley tea reveals that this Mothers Day, Australian mums only want the simple things.
A quiet day of relaxation and appreciation will mean far more than a flashy gift. In fact, 34% of mothers would just love some time to sit down and enjoy a cup of tea with a newspaper or magazine.
These mums also said that a special breakfast was an important break from routine that they enjoy on Mothers Day. This will give the family quality time together before she tends to her own mother or mother-in-law. However, can you believe 44% of those mums had to make their own breakfast last Mothers Day? Worse still, many then had to clean up afterwards!
Naturally, not having to do the housework came out as important for a great Mothers Day. In fact, the mums surveyed by Tetley tea listed ‘still having to do chores’ as the most trying thing about Mothers Day. So after you’ve served her breakfast in bed, make sure to clean up the dishes.
More than a quarter of the women surveyed said they most enjoy a hot tea with their breakfast. But sadly, according to the Tetley survey, 10% of these women were served bad coffee or lukewarm tea last Mothers Day. Don’t go through the motions; put in that extra effort!
Mums also said they love a quiet cuppa after dinner—24% of them ranked this as the second best time to enjoy a cup of tea. Fathers, this is your chance to go above and beyond! Once you’ve finished cleaning up after dinner, serve her a cuppa to enjoy while you get the kids ready for bed. She’ll be sipping her tea wondering how she got so lucky.
In essence, Aussie mothers aren’t asking for much this Mothers Day: breakfast in bed with a hot cup of tea, relaxation, a break from chores, and a peaceful evening cuppa. Follow these simple suggestions and you’re sure to give the mum in your life the day she wants and deserves.
